Numbering issue

So, I have a form with quite a few questions.
Example – Question one has a label thus – 1. This is question one.
when this is received by its email recipient it becomes 1. 1. This is question one. Not what is required.
I can remove the ‘1’ from the label but that then, of course, removes the number from the displayed form. Again not what i want.
Any suggestions, anuyone, please?

{radio-47}These should be number sequentially -1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, etc. They are not. Whereever there is an htm; field – the numbering starts again.
