I installed the table but when I entered my number data, it is not sorting numerically on the page when I choose to sort by that column. The column is actually dates, but I’ve entered them as numbers since there is no way to sort by a date. I’ve tried 9-2 and 9/2 as options, but neither sorts numerically. Thanks for any advice.

  • Hi,
By default, data is sorted by the first column. If the first column of your table is numeric, then your data will be sorted numerically. But if the first column is text then it will be sorted alphabetically. However, you can sort any column by clicking on the header of the column. To see the example, please visit the demo page https://aazztech.com/demos/plugins/tablegen-data-table-generator/.

However, if you can not sort your data on your website, then please make sure you set the following two options to ‘Yes’ in the table settings tab.

    1. Set this ‘Use advanced Table to show table data?’ to “yes”.
    2. Set this “Use the first row of the table as a table header?” to “yes”.
and save the table. Refresh the page clearing the cache and you should get a working data tables with sorting capability.

One last thing, it is not possible to specify a certain column to be used for sorting automatically. Only the first column will be sorted automatically and rest of the column should be sorted manually by the user on the website. However, we have a plan to provide the user to select any column they like to use to sort their data by default soon.

I have the settings set that way (#1 & #2 above), and I know that I cannot set the default sort other than the first column, but when I click on the heading for birthday on this table: http://www.roadrunnerparents.com/school-staff/ it does not sort numerically correctly.

    Hi,
We have visited your link to see the issue but we found nothing there. Maybe you have disabled the plugin. Please share a live example so that we can figure out the cause of the problem. We have tested the plugin on our server again and it is working fine and sorting properly. You can also see in the demo that it is working. You may also try to use the plugin by disabling other plugins. It is also possible that sometimes other plugins create problem or conflicts.

We need to find the cause to fix it but currently, we can not find any issue and your link is not working too. So, please give us a working link.

Thank you very much for your patience.

I went to the link, and you are correct, the table was not there. For some reason the plug-in deactivated. When I re-activated it, the table reappeared with all of my data. I’ve never had a plug-in deactivate, so not sure why it would have done that. Here is the link: http://www.roadrunnerparents.com/school-staff/. Thanks.

    Hi,
Thank you for your reply. We have checked the link and found that you were trying to sort date, not normal number.

We are sorry to inform you that the plugin does not support date sorting at the moment. It only supports plain number or decimal number at the moment. We will try hard to provide support for sorting date in a future update.
Thank you very much for understanding.
