off-canvas sidebar and autoptimize

Just in case anyone else discovers the same problem and is looking for a solution:

When using Off-Canvas-Sidebar and Autoptimize – the Sidebar is not working.
For me the solution was to disable the option:
“ Force JavaScript in <head>?
Load JavaScript early (discouraged as it makes the JS render blocking)”
of Autoptimize.

This also was somehow causing a white gap under the footer of my theme (generatepress). Both problems disappear when disabling that option.

Sidebar works nicels with gutenberg and generatepress btw. Thx for that plugin.

When using Autoptimize without that option, do you see any JS errors?
This plugin’s script should have the correct dependencies in place so should load fine, even with Autoptimize combining the files.

i am not really a programmer – so hopefully i did it right: i opened dev tools in chrome and according to a tutorial i found in the console tab there you can find javascript errors.

It shows:

DSGVOallinone is a cookie plugin i use, i also use matamo/piwik for analytics.

That doesn’t look like breaking errors. You might need to exclude jQuery from Autotimize, I remember doing this in the past when I was still using the plugin.
