Offer include in addition to exclude – Shortcode

Maybe there is a way to do this already but I can’t find it. It would be helpful to offer a method to “include:ID” as compared to using “exclude:ID” to get a list of categories. I have in excess of 50 categories and sub-categories for a help center that I am creating index pages for each product. “include” would ensure I only display the needed product. “exclude” is quite time consuming and opens the door to displaying unrelated categories.
Suggestions/hacks welcome.
