I have a wp.com blog that I’ve moved (export/import) to wp.org on another server. I want to use Offsite Redirect on wp.com to redirect the traffic from the home page at wp.com as well as the other PAGES on the blog. I’ve noticed a potential problem with the new permalink structure that wp.org created. Here’s the URL of the old PAGE:

    beforethecoffee.wordpress.com/photomatix_tutorial

and now the same page renamed on wp.org:

    beforethecoffee.com/?page_id=38

Are there problems with editing and renaming the permalink:

    beforethecoffee.com/photomatix_tutorial

on the wp.org site before I publish.

Am I able to change the permalink structure for the redirect to take place. If I don’t change the permalink structure here at wp.org to match wp.com, if I keep the search engine unfriendly default style that ends like /?page_id=38 then the redirect would be of no use to me.

With the redirect, beforethecoffee.wordpress.com/photomatix-tutorial/ will redirect to beforethecoffee.com/photomatix-tutorial/

It will NOT redirect to beforethecoffee.com/?page_id=38

    Can I make the change?
This also sparks a new question. Can I use the widget that requires a pageID for excluding a particular page from the sidebar list?
