Old orphaned images

    Some of my wordpress sites have been running for over 5 years. We have a LOT of files in wp-content/uploads that are not necessary anymore and I would like to clean them up.

    There are plugins that look for images that are not attached to anything to and delete them, but some of my images are in use without being attached.

    Furthermore, there are multiple sizes and copies of the images that can also be cleaned up.

    Any suggestions on how I can safely delete the images?
