• Yes, it’s free and even then, not worth wasting your time. The plugin has not changed in the last 10 years and it looks like it.

If you need a simple contact form download something else, you will save hours of trying to understand and configure this outdated plugin.

When trying to configure the plugin to send emails to your email you will be introduce to the dreaded mail tags that either work or not. It is a complex technic that will leave you scratching your head in disbeleif.

It is so not user friendly. Do not use.

  • Hi @motti_b,

I agree with you. The mail tags could be intimidating at first, but once you understand them, you will set them up very easily. You may miss a visual drag-and-drop interface, but the plugin documentation provides a variety of articles that will help you understand how everything in the plugin works. Personally, I have been using this plugin for years because of its great flexibility and the large number of extensions that have been developed for it.

In any case, if after taking a look at the documentation you still have issues with your contact form, feel free to ask for help and I, or any other volunteer, will try to answer your questions to help you set up your contact form successfully.

    Hi Yordan,

Thank you for replying! I used CF7 many years ago and then, due to lack of other plugins, I had to learn all the quirks of the plugin. It was disappointing to see how nothing was change in so many years.

Yes, it is a very comprehensive plugin but I wish coders would give the author a hand and make it more friendly user.

I did manage to finally create the form I wanted. The CF7 instructions, well….they were not written for the simple user, they were written the way lawyers write contracts. Not too helpful I am afraid.

I do have an issue with CF7 not sending confirmation emails. I do have a second email setup and sometimes it sends confirmation and sometimes it does not. I am not sure if it is a server issue or a plugin issue. When sending email to an address belonging to a regular domain name (personal@photosbymotti for example) it seems to work almost always. However, when sending to a Gmail account, it does not always work, about 4 out of ten attempts. Strange.

Maybe you have a solution. Thank you in advance.

    Cheers!!
