On the brink

Dear Wonderful helpful people out there.

1. I have a had a [ profanity removed ] day
2. I am very tired but the only time I find to try to get a website running is after 10pm
3. I paid someone to make my last website which was then kindly hacked and brought down by some pathetic C***
4. I’m skint and so I have to do this myself.
5. I need help in form of suggestions, I want more than that but I am a reasonable person, it’s your time and knowledge I am asking for, so I’m grateful for all well intentioned suggestions.

My aim is to build a site with four pages, Photo, Film, About, Contact…. no blog. One which I can update and add to frequently. Maybe one more page in the future for news/ideas etc a little more bloggy I suppose.

The content is either photographs I have taken or films I have made or had a hand in making. about an contact are self explanatory.

My photography ranges from landscape, portrait, travel etc and some of these categories overlap … so I want to allow users to build there own galleries by selecting tags, so if you select portraits you’ll get all portraits but some might be in a travel context, if you select travel you’ll get portraits and landscape, if you select landscape you’ll get only landscape … this theoretically can be done by tags, which has so far alluded me. Effectively I think I need a gallery plug in that populates according to tags/categories selected… any ideas? I’d like the images as big as possible (1200×1000 aprox) and quick to flick through once ‘gallery’ is loaded

Video I want thumbnails which play in a viewer without leaving the page with fullscreen option if wanted. Using tags on the film ‘home’ page to reduce the number of thumbnails on the page and so the viewer can select films I directed, or photographed or both or my showreels etc. What is the best plug in for this, I have searched by so far nothing works.

Also I can’t find how to align the pages ‘buttons’ with the edge of the header image, simple you’d think, maybe i’m a bit dim … smart enough to ask for help .. ideas please.

I am prepared to put the work in, but find I’m reading a whole load of stuff I can’t see the relevance of, ignorance on my part.
