Only Some Pretty Permalinks Work

    Hi, I’d appreciate any thoughts why only some of my pretty permalinks are working. I am running WordPress 2.3.1 and had it generate pretty permalinks. Now addresses with text (category/uncategorized/; about/; etc) work but anything with archives (ie 2008/04/…) doesn’t. In the latter cases I see a 404 message:

    Not Found

    Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here.

    Is this a problem with the archives files? I’m making a custom theme that inherits from the default theme and have yet to create either archive.php or archives.php, so it should be using the default theme’s files.

    Strange, if I change the structure to ‘/blog/%postname%/’ (since I have a custom frontpage as the root and a page called blog as the posts root) everything works…
