    Hello,

in the past month I have a problem with my open grpah. it shows the logo in the preview and not the post’s image.

I have tried different plugins and it still not working, and turned off all my chache plugins and it still shows only the logo.
I thought maybe going to the older version of Yoast will help (i don’t have WP 5.5 but one before that.) will it cause any harm?

    thanks,
    Yael

    Hi,

Could you please confirm you are using the latest version of WordPress 5.5 and Yoast SEO for WordPress 14.8.1? If so, please do make sure that you’ve set the correct open graph tags for your title, image, and description for a particular post — https://yoast.com/help/custom-open-graph-tags/

If you aren’t getting the expected social preview, you can run it through Facebook’s sharing debugger tool and see what it can scrape for that URL — https://yoast.com/help/facebook-sharing-updated-details/

no I am not using the newwst version of WP, but the one before that as the 5.5 messed up my site… I am using the latest Yoast version thougt.

    Hi @eclectit1,

Upon checking the page source of your homepage https://theeclectit.com/ for debugging, we don’t see any Open Graph meta tags outputted by our Yoast SEO plugin. Have you already uninstalled or deactivated the Yoast SEO plugin? If so, can you please activate it and let us know for further inspection what the cause is?

you are right, I turned it on now (:

@eclectit1 Thanks for your reply. Can you please confirm whether you have set a default image for Facebook in the plugin?

You can set this by going in WordPress to SEO>Social>Facebook, and under ‘Default Settings’ click the ‘Upload Image’ button to set a default Facebook image.

Also, can you confirm whether a featured image has been set for the home page? Or whether you have set a Facebook image on the Social tab of the Yoast SEO metabox for the page?

To set the Facebook image, you would need to perform the following actions:

      • Go to the Edit screen for the page/post
      • Scroll down to the Yoast meta box
      • Click on the Social tab
      • Click on the Facebook tab
      • Click on ‘Select Image’ to chose an image for ‘Facebook Image’
      • Click ‘Update’

    Hello,
I did not set a default photo under social > facebook nor in the post itself.

i never set a default photo as it usually uses the post’s featured photo.
now I tried to set a fecebook preview photo for the specific post using Yoast and it still shows the logo.

    Hi,

If you set a featured image for the homepage here: https://theeclectit.com/ we would expect Yoast to output it as the OpenGraph image. We are not sure why Yoast is failing to do this.

Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes also updated?

If so, That sounds like a plugin or theme conflict. Please Check for conflicts. Install the Healthcheck plugin and enable troubleshooting. Then switch to a standard theme like 2020. Does the issue resolve? NOTE: This will not affect how users see your site.

If there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.

If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.

We are going ahead and marking this issue as resolved due to inactivity. If you require any further assistance please create a new issue.
