• Here’s the thing. And it isn’t just WordPress, but it is just as guilty as the rest. Why on earth do Open Source developers make using their software so difficult for the average user? Is there some law against a simple install routine? Can they not develop an actual installer? Commercial software developers would go broke if their software was as difficult to install. Who is the primary target of Open Source software? Folks who cannot afford expensive commercial software, who by that very distinction are frequently neophytes and folks just generally unable to grasp complicated install routines. Good Grief just make it install itself. We acknowledge that you are smarter than we are, you don’t have to prove it with every release.

HA! I got on my soapbox and forgot the original intent. In Google-ing a solution I only find two year old solutions written poorly and incorrectly. Good grief, can’ some WordPress guru write down a step by step procedure for installing WordPress? And perhaps another for installing it on a Wamp Server? Really? Am I the only one on Earth who doesn’t get it? ARGH…

WordPress is basically a web application that requires a server, PHP and MySQL (or similar database) to operate. Since these various technologies can have many variations and yet still run WordPress successfully, it’s kind of hard to come up with a “one-size-fits-all” installer. Thus the recommended process: https://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/New_To_WordPress_-_Where_to_Start

As an aside, some hosts do provide one-click WordPress installers – but these tend to be optimized for their server technology stacks.
