There are several videos here that will help you out: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/ewww-image-optimizer/installation/
They don’t cover the resizing settings, and some of the newer webp settings, but those settings are pretty straightforward anyway.
If you have specific questions about anything after going through the installation page, let me know.
Thank you for your quick response. BTW I read somewhere you dont need Imsanity once you get EWWW going … can they both co-exist?
You’re right, EWWW can do the same resizing that Imsanity does (and lets you change the default JPG quality of those resizes). If Imsanity is active though, EWWW’s resizing methods are automatically disabled.
Thanks again. I just did a test on gtmetrix and I got lots of results like this: http://[mydomain]/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/female-soldier-01-450×370.png is resized in HTML or CSS from 450×370 to 108×89. Serving a scaled image could save 232.8KiB (94% reduction). is this the kind of thing that EWWW will automatically do? I am reading this result as asking me scale the image, even though it has already beeing resized in HTML/CSS. Do you have a freelancer that can help for a reasonable fee?
EWWW cannot automatically scale/resize your images in situations like that, although it’s a dilemma I’ve been thinking about a lot lately.
There are some ideas I’ve put together in this article for solving the problem, although it often will involve some manual work: https://ewww.io/2014/12/05/pagespeed-says-my-images-need-more-work/
