For some images it seems it hasn’t optimized all images yet, since it states: “Optimise # missing thumbnails”. Then if I click on this link to optimize these missing thumbnails, the page just refreshes and that’s it. There’s no feedback message, no error in the console, but the missing thumbnails line remains. Any idea what might be happening here?

    Hey @nickk40,

This is Joseph from Imagify, and I’ll gladly assist you here!

I’m really sorry you’re having issues with this!

It’s difficult to say for sure what might be happening from the outside.

Could you please try a couple of things on one or two of these images this is happening to?

First find them in the Media Library (list view) and try restoring them to original and then re-optimizing them to see if that resolves the issue.

If that doesn’t work, try downloading the original backup, re-uploading the image to your Media Library, and then optimize to see if that clears the issue up. If it does, you may need to try this for all the images with this issue.

If neither of those work, you can also try using the Regenerate Thumbs plugin to regenerate all your thumbnail sizes and then see if the issue is resolved after the image is optimized once again. Here’s the link to that plugin:

    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/

Once activated, a link to “Regenerate Thumbnails will appear when you hover over the names of each of your images in your Media Library.

Make sure you make a full backup of your site and database before trying this plugin, just in case.

Please let me know how this works for you, and I am happy to be of further assistance if needed!

    Best regards,
    Joseph

Thanks Joseph, the “Restore to original” and then again select “Optimize” already does the trick!

Perhaps I can ask a short follow-up question:

For some images it shows up like this: https://ibb.co/34dQNms
While for other images like this: https://ibb.co/z5c3mCg

What is the difference? Because for both it seems to have successfully completed the Optimization process.

    Hey @nickk40,

Glad to hear that worked for you!

Regarding your follow-up question, the WELL DONE messages mean that Imagify has analyzed your images and decided that at your currently set compression level (Normal, Aggressive, or Ultra) no optimization was needed.

You can try clicking the “Re-optimize to Ultra” link to see if it might compress the image some at that level. You can then view the image to see if the image quality is okay. If it is, you can leave the image, but if it affected the quality too much, you could always Re-optimize it back to the Aggressive level. It’s also possible compression may not be needed even at the Ultra level, so it may still display the WELL DONE message after you try that too.

Please let me know if you have any further questions on this and I’ll be more than happy to assist!

    Best regards,
    Joseph
