I usually compare the “security” to “health management of human”.

For example,

• Set the right permission
• Strengthen the password

• Use 2 factors authentication

• Backup your files
• Update to the latest version

are something like “Building physical fitness”. I had done former 2 things without plugins.

And

• Protect your site againts the attack vectors

• Set up a firewall
• Block malicious access

are something like “Disease prevention”. IP Geo Block is specialized for this category.

• Watch access logs on your server
• Check vulnerable versions of plugin and theme
• Inspect and remove the contaminated files
• Restore files from a backup

are “Disease diagnosis and treatment”.

For us human, everything is needed.

Of course, my ideal concept for this plugin is building a “Cleanroom”. So if IGB has perfect protection ability, I say “Yes”.

But unfortunately, it doesn’t. So in addition to this plugin, you can feel more relieved if you have a plugin which has the ability of “Disease diagnosis and treatment”. I think Wordfence is one of the best security plugin to fit the above requirement.

As for me, I use only this plugin for the security purpose becase…

1. Almost all malicious accesses come not from my country but overseas server.
2. I don’t use plugins which provide services on the public facing pages. It means that I can focus to take prompt measures on admin, plugins and themes area.
3. I emphasize the site speed.
