    Dear sir/madam,

I have a big problem for my woocommerce store. Some orders do not show a origin where the sale comes from (organic, google, direct etc). This is the reason why our google ads conversion tracking can’t function properly.

For some orders I do see the origin but is is 50/50 unknown. Can someone please help me out, I do not know anymore how I can fix this bug, my business is not functioning properly with this bug.

Many many thanks in advance. I really appreciate it a lot if anyone can help me out. Paying for the solution is also no problem.

    Kind regards,

    Robin

@sumisuknives Those are usually Bots of a sort. If you have legit orders then those users are negating the cookies somehow.

@serafinnyc thanks for responding so quick, I appreciate it a lot. The orders are legit. I use the plugin Complianz for cookie consent. And i have statistics how many users deny the cookies but it says none. Is there any way I can debug this?

    thanks in advance

@sumisuknives Got it. So yeah, if Complianz isn’t firing correctly or is delaying scripts, Woo’s tracking might not kick in. You’d want to test that on a staging environment and probably check with Complianz support on how to make sure those cookies (_wcfb_ref and tk_woocommerce) get set properly.

If those cookies don’t get set, Woo can’t log the origin, and that’s why you’re seeing “unknown” for legit orders. Could also be a conflict with another JS script or optimizer, so keep an eye on that too. If you are using a caching app, ensure the session cookie (wp_woocommerce_session_*) is excluded too.

    Hi @sumisuknives,

Thank you for reaching out and for the clarification. I understand how frustrating and confusing this kind of issue can be, especially considering how crucial this data is for your business.

To better understand your setup, could you please let me know what tool you’re currently using to track the source of your visitors and orders? Are you using Google Analytics 4 (GA4) or a specific plugin on your site?

    Dear @mosesmedh,

Thanks a lot for responding. The plugins I use that are correlated to this issue are: Litespeed Cache, Google for Woocommerce and Complianz. I fire Google tag manager (there is GA4 located) through the Complianz plugin. I also found the following setting in Litespeed:

Delete query strings option in Litespeed . I had this set on ON, ChatGPT suggested to put this OFF. I don’t know if that will fix the issue, but I turned it off for now. Sadly I didn’t had any conversions today so I do not know if it works.

    Many thanks in advance!

    Kind regards,

    Robin

    Hi there,

Thank you for your detailed follow-up and for sharing the plugins involved in your setup. I completely understand how important accurate conversion tracking is for your business.

From what you’ve shared, it does appear that the issue may be related to how query parameters (such as UTM tags) are handled on your site. The “Delete query strings” setting in the LiteSpeed Cache plugin, if enabled, can indeed strip important tracking data from URLs, which may prevent source/medium data from being passed into Google Analytics and Google Ads.

Since you’ve already disabled that setting, that’s a great first step. I’d recommend keeping it off for now and monitoring if your next conversions start showing proper attribution data.

As WooCommerce itself does not handle traffic source tracking or tag management directly, this behavior typically relates to how plugins like caching tools, cookie management, and tracking integrations are configured.

We recommend contacting the support teams of Google for WooCommerce and Complianz plugins as they’ll be best equipped to assist with tracking and tag behavior:

They’ll be able to review your settings in detail and ensure that tags are not being blocked or stripped unintentionally.

    Dear @serafinnyc @mosesmedh @shahzeenfarooq,

Currently I have disabled all plugins that can be correlated to the problem (Litespeed, Google for Woocommerce, Complianz and other plugins). You can see it here: https://sumisuknives.nl/

I will keep it like this for a while, so you guys can also check this. The problem is that I still do not see the _wcfb_ref and tk_woocommerce cookies. How is this possible?

    Many thanks in advance!

    Kind regards,

    Robin
