.org a problem?

I’m trying to install a WordPress DB (which is usually a pretty simple task) for a new hosting account, but I keep getting a message about the system having trouble establishing a DB connection. My username/DB name and password are correct (with no extra spaces). However, my URL has a .org extension. Could that be the problem?
