• With the PHP tracking there were categories like “outbound-widget”, “outbound-menu”, “outbound-article”, with the JS-tracking these are all reported under “outbound-link”. Is there a way to get the old categories back? I have a client who is using these categories to report to their customizers.

    Hi there,
Unfortunately no. The PHP tracking worked by hooking into the standardized output areas, which had the upside of being able to label them seperately but the downside that we couldn’t track a lot of links (ones outside those areas).

That being said, if you’re looking for an easy way to see where people are clicking, if you go into the Settings page, go to the Tracking tab, and on the Enhanced Link Attribution subtab, enable Enhanced Link Attribution, you can then install and use this Chrome extension to visually see on your website where users are clicking: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/page-analytics-by-google/fnbdnhhicmebfgdgglcdacdapkcihcoh?hl=en

That’s a pity. The client already uses the Chrome extension, but you cannot generate reports with it, so they cannot use it for their clients.
