I’m using a free version of UpdraftPlus on several different (but technically similar) WordPress installations. I have a trouble with one installation, because the outdated backups are not deleted automatically and over time they begin to take up a lot of disk space.

My files and database backup schedule is set to Daily.
Retain this many scheduled backups is set to 2.

But my automatic backups are not automatically deleted. They just keep pilling up until I manually delete them.

  • Hello,

Would it be possible for you to share the latest backup log file via the View Log button as per your screenshot using pastebin.com please?

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing. Please could you check and save the UpdraftPlus >> Settings >> Show expert settings >> Delete local backup setting as seen here. If it’s unchecked, any files kept locally are not subject to retention limits.

Thank you for this tip. Delete local backup was unchecked. I have checked it now. Will report if it works as expected in a few days.

Great, let us know if any new backups are not pruning the local copy of the backup.

Please note any old backups will need to manually removed.

    Kind Regards,

I’m happy to report that everything now works as expected. The local backups are automatically deleted after 2 days and only 2 backup copies are retained.

Thanks a lot for a great and fast support.

    Best Regards
