This is a new install of WP 3.2.1 with the LaunchEffect theme from Barrel Design installed, but the problem occurs no matter which theme I use. When I open the site (launch.flammcon.info) it looks OK. But if I login to modify the site, when I view it, there will be 2 copies of the site – and more if I go back and forth. Basically, every time I click the Dashboard link on the control bar, I get another partial instance of the site.

I don’t know if you will be able to recreate the problem, since I assume you have to login to get it started. I’m just wondering if this is a known phenomenon which indicates an install or permissions problem, or if this is some new issue (seems unlikely, but I couldn’t find a similar description of the problem).

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    esmi,

I deleted everything from the root folder and reinstalled WP. Once I got TwentyEleven working, I reinstalled the LaunchEffect theme, and now it seems to be working. I’m not quite sure what’s different – all I can think of is some template file got corrupted during the previous install.

    Thanks for your help,

    Eric

Glad to hear that you got it working again. 🙂
