Override Category Filtering Will Render Plugin Useless

when filling in ID’s of multiple posts that i wish to exclude from highlighting the plugin does nothing, it has taken some time to conclude what the issue was but finally now after 2 days of trial and error it seems that if i fill any post id into the Override Category Filtering for Specific Posts section the plugin will stop working and never post any updates.
Tested on 2 different sites, one with cache one dev site without cache and no other plugins, same issue occurs on both, one site is 3.8.4 one is 3.9.2
