    I am trying to publish an event and after completing the details I select Publish. I am then presented with a dialogue “the page you are trying to access is restricted”

    Any help gratefully received.

    That most likely means that your primary calendar page is set to private or otherwise restricted access. Go to My Calendar > Settings and navigate to the page selected as your calendar page and check its settings.
