    Hi,

I am having a peculiar issue where the 404 page text is not styled correctly in certain situations, mainly file extension 404’s. For example, if I navigate to /wp-sitemap.xml (broken, aligned left and spacing is off) then the styling is not the same as if I go to /no-page-here or /no-file.txt (styling is fine, centred with spacing). I noted that the .hero-section styling does not apply in the case of the .xml 404 page. When I manually apply the .hero-section styling in the web editor, the result is almost exactly the same as the page with the correct styling.

Apologies, I am unable to provide a link for you to take a look at the site, but if you import a Gutenberg demo such as Consultant you should be able to replicate this I believe, as I have seen this issue previously on another separate site. Using SmartCrawl for SEO, if this matters.

    Thanks for any assistance.

  • Hello @bclaim

Hm, to be honest, I don’t think this would necessarily be a theme issue. The /wp-sitemap.xml file seems to be there present by default, which makes me believe that some of your plugins has disabled it and is throwing an incorrect 404 page.

Have you tried temporarily disabling all SEO-related plugins to see if they are the culprit for removing the file?

Also, with the SEO-related plugins enabled, have you tried testing this scenario with a different theme, to see if these plugins do not incorrectly hijack the default .xml file page?

    Thanks.

    Hi Eduard,

Thanks for your reply. You could be right, I am seeing some mixed results with further quick testing (by trying different .xml 404’s). I am unable to disable plugins and themes at this moment, but I will try it when I am able. I will mark this as resolved for now and if I find anything to add I’ll let you know. At the end of the day, this is a fairly minor item.

Thank you for the great theme!

No worries, @bclaim. We’ll be here whenever you’re ready.
