Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t find the log, please contact your host.

Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/

You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you cannot access wp-admin, there are other ways to deactivate plugins.

Hi Steve. We tried deactivating the Google-cache plug-in but now we can’t access the site. We can’t login at all now – our login page is Sutherland-careers.com/wp-admin but we’re getting HTTP Error 500.

The advice I gave is how one handles “500” errors.

We tried following your advice and we deactivated some of the plugins to see what the error 500 issue could have been. Now we are running into a different issue where we can no longer access our log in page. Can this be done if we can’t log in?

Have you checked with your hosting provider to make sure it not a problem with them. Can you ftp into your site or access the cpanel?

If you can ftp into the site you can manually remove the plugins from the wp-content/plugin folder and copy them back when you have fixed the problem. Are you running a child theme ? You can also goto the wp-content/theme folder and replace the theme folder with a fresh copy.

You can download your current theme folder and save it in case you need it. Download a new version of the theme upzip it and place the new folder in the wp-content/theme folder.
