Hi! I’m new to WordPress. I like the look and feel of the Edin theme demo, but am having difficulty figuring out how to set the grid as my home page.

I see these instructions for creating that kind of front page: https://wordpress.com/theme/edin

But the instructions do not correlate at all with what I see on my wpadmin site.

In my Appearance–>Customize menu there is no “Page Options” module, nor is there a “Static Front Page” customization menu.

Are there differences in running the theme on .org versus .com? This thread seems to indicate that there are differences: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/edin-theme-content-option-missing-on-wordpress-org-2/

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi there, Static Front Page in the Customizer has changed to Home Page Settings.Page Options would be the Page Attributes module in the page editor. Yes, there are some differences in terminology between WordPress.com and self-hosted sites. Sorry about that. I’m contacting our theme developers to let them know they need to look over and update Edin docs.

Thanks very much for your help! Yes, it would be great if there were separate instructions for .com versus .org users. For someone who is new to WordPress, it has been very confusing to view live demos of various themes, and then not see anything related to those instructions in my .org cms interface. And it’s not just Edin that has that problem, by the way. It seems that instructions for most of the themes that I have seen are directed at .com users. Now that I know this is the case, I can adapt. Appreciate the guidance.

Yes it would be great. I’m not sure though at ww.wp.xz.cn whether we have the space on the theme showcase pages to put all that. I’ll pass that along to our theme developers though as it can be confusing, especially for those just starting out, like you.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.
