• Hi. I have a strange problem that was not detected until I launched the site. My blog is cafemestalla.com and is collaborative.

We can not preview pages, the result is always a blank screen. The posts preview does work, although sometimes I also have weird things like blank once published, which have resolved removing all text formatting. But pages preview don’t work.

With any other theme of default WP the preview it works perfectly. And it’s not a problem of my child theme because the original Baordwalk does not preview pages either.

I searched for some solution out there and I just found something related to the permalinks that has not worked.

    Can you help me?

Could you please let me know the two values you see under Settings > Permalinks for both:

    WordPress Address (URL)
    Site Address (URL)

Please copy-paste out both values so I can take a look. Thanks!

Hi Kathryn. Thanks for answering. I do not know if I understand correctly. Under the permalinks it is not what you ask me as you can see in the capture.

Wordpress url and the url of the site are in general settings, and have this:
    Dirección de WordPress (URL) http://cafemestalla.com/CMO
    Dirección del sitio (URL) http://cafemestalla.com

Well, captures are not seen, I don’t know why. I am sorry

Sorry for the confusion, I meant to say Settings > General, not Permalinks.

    Dirección del sitio (URL) http://cafemestalla.com

That URL isn’t what I see in your screenshot, I see http://cafemestalla.com/COM — could you double-check it? Your site URL should be http://cafemestalla.com.

If you do want to change this value, please be very careful, as you could get locked out of your dashboard while doing it. (This is also isn’t theme-specific, so you might get better help in the general troubleshooting forum.)

You’re right, before it was cafemestalla.com/CMO, CMO is the folder in which it is my wordpress, and with the previous theme worked everything perfectly. I corrected after making the screenshot to see if the problem with the preview was fixed, but no, still not working…

Here are a few other troubleshooting steps to try:

    – Does previewing work in a different browser, other than your main one? (What is your main browser and version?) If it works OK in a different browser try turning off all browser extensions and add-ons in your original browser to see if something is conflicting.
    – If that doesn’t solve it, you could deactivate all plugins temporarily. If previewing works, reactivate each plugin one at a time, checking the previewing in between each, until you find the culprit. If you find the conflicting culprit, please let me know so we can investigate further.

Hello, testing some things like disable plugins I discovered that neither I can publish pages. In the Blog we only publish posts, pages use them as private notes, but also we should be able to published pages, but can not, like the previews are not visible. Any ideas?

Sorry for my terrible english 😉

Well, you answered me while writing. About plugins I’ve tried, and it does not work. The browser could be if only I were the writer, but it happens to 8 blog authors, each with a different browser I guess. Anyway, normally use chrome, but I’ve tried different than firefox or Safari and the problem persist.

Some of what you’re describing isn’t usually theme-related, but since you mentioned that the issues go away when you switch to a different theme, you could try the following troubleshooting steps:

    – Remove the original Boardwalk folder via FTP or directory browser
    – Reinstall a fresh copy of Boardwalk and activate it
    – With the new copy of Boardwalk active, see if you can preview posts normally

Let me know how it goes.

I’ve done what you say and now the previews works well, at last. However we can not publish pages, and should be able, though it is a minor problem because we do not usually do.

I do not understand what could have happened because I’m the only admin an I have not touched the template long ago, long before we detect the problem with previews, neither the original nor the child theme, so do not know what could corrupt whatever it was. Maybe some plugin of the many I’ve tried for different things?

In any case, many thanks Kathryn 😉

May not be able to publish pages is a wordpress configuration issue, not a theme issue. There may be misconfigured something inadvertently?

Glad you’re able to preview posts and pages now!

Not being able to publish new pages does sound unrelated to the theme, so you’re right, something could certainly be misconfigured somewhere. You could try posting in the general troubleshooting forum for some guidance on that front:

    Good luck!
