Hi. I am trying to create a business directory which your plugin does beautifully however, the main categories do not work.

    For example,
in Buy & Sell I get this error

Advanced Search Buy and Sell Cd’s for sale Short Description: hi I am Michael View Edit Flag Listing Delete We Are Interconnected Short Description: hi. I own a company here View Edit Flag Listing Delete

    in Community I get
Advanced Search Community No listings found.

I would like the man categories on the directory page, but the next page to features the sub categories if any. Or better yet on the main directory page I would like all the main categories and if hovered or click over over the main category text, have it so an accordion dropdown with sub categories displays. How to do this? Also how to fix these page errors? Thanks.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @michaellanfield,

Sorry that you ran into issues with this!

I’m not sure what might be going on off hand and I’m not totally clear on where the issue is happening, so let’s start with some questions.

Can you tell me a bit more?
    – What version of WP are you running here?
    – What exact version of BD? (number, please)
    – What exact version of any other BD Modules? (number, please)
    – Have you tried a conflict test yet? Here is an article about how to test for theme and plugin conflicts with Business Directory, which may help pinpoint the issue: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/support-forum/faq/how-to-check-for-plugin-and-theme-conflicts-with-bd/
    – What specific page(s) are not working? Can you post links to the working/non-working pages?
    – Can you show me a screenshot of what you see that isn’t right? Use http://imageshack.us if you need to

That would really help me do a better job of answering your questions.

    Please let me know.

Will do that right away.

    – Buy and Sell and Companies and Organizations category really messed up

So it seems it is a theme conflict, but I can’t understand. The theme is from theme.co, Pro theme and it is one of the best wordpress themes on the market. I love it. So what should I do. I did disable all my plugins and no issue, but when I switch my theme to 2017 it works. ?

    Hi @michaellanfield,

Business Directory Plugin will work with any well-written, WP 4.x compliant theme. Generally speaking, paid themes tend to be higher quality than free ones, so we don’t recommend those. But even though a theme is paid doesn’t necessarily mean it’s well written, unfortunately.

Whatever theme you pick, we recommend using the Theme Check plugin (available for free on ww.wp.xz.cn) to validate how WordPress-compliant that theme actually is. The more errors and warnings you see on the theme when you run that check, the worse the theme is. You can read more about it here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/theme-check/

(This plugin was developed by WP Core developers to validate their own default themes and is highly respected in the theme community)

Since the problem doesn’t show itself on 2017, I can confidently say that BD is most likely doing the right thing and your theme has some issue internally. Theme Check may help find it so the developers can address the issue. Or switching themes might be easier. That would be my recommendation.
