• Hi, I help manage a county sheriff’s WordPress website and I’m stuck on 2 pages that used to show live data.

We have a jail roster and sex offender registry page. They used to automatically show information, but now both pages just display error screens instead of the lists.

From what I understand, the actual data comes from our law enforcement software (Police Central), not from WordPress directly. I believe the pages are pulling from some kind of outside system or database, but I don’t know how that connection is set up.

    I’m trying to figure out:

    • Where in WordPress I would even look to see how a page is connected to outside data
    • Whether this is likely something controlled in WordPress (plugin, embed, shortcode, etc.) or completely outside of WordPress
    • What I can check on the WordPress side before I go back to IT

I’m not a developer, just trying to track down where this connection might live inside the site. Any guidance on what to look for in the dashboard would really help.

    Thanks!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I’m not sure which pages you’re referring to. I see a menu at the top with the two topics you mentioned. All the links in it are accessible as normal. However, I notice that some lead to PDF files, while others lead to an external website.

If you are referring to this external website, then you cannot analyze it further in your WordPress. This must be done by the service provider who manages this external website. At most, you should point this out to them if they have not already noticed it.
