    Hey,

Was looking for a shortcode parameter [https://github.com/ylefebvre/link-library/wiki/Customizing-the-layout#shortcode-parameters-1] for overriding the category name as showing or not showing. Not sure if you have this available but I would really like this.

To describe my issue, I have a page that has “new” included items that are all located on one page unsorted by niche categories and restricted to 10 or 20 items showing [https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/shorcode-for-a-number-of-links/] (this hasn’t been added in the github doc). Later in other areas of the website they are all split into secondary categories and shown in niche areas.

On the “new” shortcode page I would like to show their niche categories.

Think “shirts” bulk page, then later split into “blouse”, “singlet”, and “sleepwear” category pages or something. For me this is relevant to showing different kinds of research; “new articles” then broken up into different kinds of news topic areas. The primary category “articles” is ticked as well as the niche section, say “politics”. Then on the politics page the shortcode only lists the “politics” category shortcode.

If I turn on “17 – Category Name” from the stylesheet, it works for the “new” pages but it makes the niche pages repeat the same category line over and over repeatedly. My issue is this will screw up google’s bots registering my page as spam and tooks a bit intense O.o :).

Thanks for looking into the issue,

    – Siren

There are no direct shortcode parameters that allow for category names to be displayed or not when calling the shortcode. That being said, you could make a copy of your library configuration and set the option to be off in the new one. Then load different library configurations with the settings option when instantiating the library with the shortcode.

Not quite sure that is the most efficient way.

I guess. Going to Library Configurations > Import/Export settings > exporting settings. Then “Go to the plugin General Options page and increase the Number of Libraries from the default value of 1, then Save Settings” [https://github.com/ylefebvre/link-library/wiki/Customizing-the-layout]. Then Select current library settings: Library 2 > Go. Library Configurations > Import/Export settings > import settings.

Then you can’t fuck up the copy over. “Copy from: [Library 2]” = take from library 2. You mean that I think to say “Copy to: [Library 2]”. Correct?

So the libraries just seem to be GUI rather than Links. Very interesting.

All library configurations share the same links. You add them once, then decide which configuration should be used to display them.

Sorry for the lack of response. You might have moved on to using another plugin than Link Library. In case you’re still using it, the Copy from menu allows you to copy setting from another library onto the one you currently have selected. The libraries are essentially different display configurations, and not different buckets of links indeed.
