Hi linguagenius, can you shed some more light on what you mean by the below?
I copied twitter into my .php and now I get the following error message so that I can’t access my site.
What exactly do you mean by “twitter” and what .php file did you edit? The more info you can provide, the more it will help us help you!
Hi Brad,
Thanks so much for offering to help …
I was trying to add the twitter ‘follow’ button so I copied and pasted the code into my sidebar .php
<a href="https://twitter.com/Linguagenius">Follow @Linguagenius</a>
<script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
[Please post code snippets between backticks or use the code button.]
I did the same with the twitter ‘profile widget’

Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress 3.2 theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. Create a child theme for your changes. Once your child theme is active, we should be able to help with the customisation.
Hi linguagenius, I just wanted to touch base and say that I’m still here and still happy to help. Please be sure to follow the recommendation of the moderators and:
1. Use pastebin.com to show us your code
2. Undo your changes to sidebar.php and then respond back with a few more details.
Also, have you though about simply adding the code you originall provided as a text widget?
Hi Brad,
I have used Pastebin, and entitled the post Linguagenius. I hope you can see it.
I don’t know how I would make changes to sidebar.php, given that I cannot access my site at all: when I go to linguagenius.com, I get the error message I began my post with – not the site itself.
Thanks
Garry

To troubleshoot this issue, we’ll need to see the entire sidepar.php file. Can you try posting again in pastebin?

If you don’t have access to your website, you should still have access to FTP. With the online visual domain routing tool, I can see that your site is hosted with Hostgator. I recommend that you view their ftp tutorial here:
http://www.hostgator.com/tutorials/ftp/filezilla/managing-files-and-directories-via-filezilla.htm
Thanks Brad. I have looked at the tutorial but still not sure what to actually do next (I can’t find sidebar php in the file manager) so I have asked hostgator support if they can help in any way.
Garry
Hi Garry, thanks for keeping us updated! Let us know how it goes with Hostgator.
Hi Garry, have you been able to make any progress with Hostgator Tech Support?
