Parse Error

    I am trying to make my WP site live and move it to the root folder must have messed up somewhere, I’m getting this error and am unable to login to fix anything:

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE in /var/www/vhosts/groundingtouch.com/httpdocs/index.php on line 17

    I honestly don’t even remember which version of wordpress this site is, it’s been a while since I’ve been in it. probably 4.2.
    Super Newbie to all of this. I read the codex to move the site and am lost. I have also been searching these forums and found a few things regarding the same error I’m getting or close to but still need help, specific to me, thanks so much for any provided.

    Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.
