Parse error after 3.6 version update

Message received:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’ in D:\Hosting\5393168\html\seamlesssailorblog\wp-content\themes\shaan\header.php on line 42Shaan theme
This error shows when attempting to access my site or when I try to post a blog post.
I am a novice blogger. The blog was set up for me. I don’t know how to go into code to make changes. I need very basic direction or someone to assist!
I’m assuming that this is a problem with the way my theme interacts with the new WP update? Is that correct? Could it be something else?
What are my options for fixing this?
-Can the previous version of WP be installed? Everything was working fine on prior version.
-Should I change to a more current theme?
-Very simple directions or someone who can make the correction to line 42 whatever that means?
-Could this relate to plug ins or a hack? I am getting some unusual requests for “users” with odd hotmail email addresses that I am deleting. (I have reset my password.)Appreciate your patience and assistance.
