    Hi there,

    I am very new to using WP and whilst I have read many of the solutions to this issue already on your forums I am struggling to understand what to do. I logged into WP for the first time, chose a theme, installed it and pressed activate and ever since the following message has appeared:

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/content/32/10103432/html/Families in Essex/wp-content/themes/juliet/functions.php on line 127

    My website is http://www.familiesinessex.com and I am unable to access it at all. Apologies if this question has already been answered, if anyone is able to explain to me what to do in layman’s terms I would be eternally grateful.

    Kind regards

    This is line 127:

    wp_enqueue_script(‘slick’, get_template_directory_uri().’/assets/js/slick.min.js’, [‘jquery’], ”, true);

    Thanks

    We just ran into this too.

    We are using WordPress Version 4.7.5, and I think we got the error when we made Juliet the active theme.

    I fixed it by logging in via FTP and going to the /wp-content/themes folder and deleting the juliet folder. Then we could log in again and choose a different theme.

    Good luck!

    Kind regards!

    @snewbs and @rogmo Sorry for the delayed response. Thanks for reaching out and for using Juliet. I am sorry we didn’t get back to you earlier, looks like we somehow got unsubscribed from this forum 🙁

    This issue has been fixed in the latest version of the theme. It was happening because we were using a syntax that was only available in the latest PHP version so your hosting account was probably running an older version. We’ve fixed this now and made it backward compatible.

    Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you.
