I added YOAST free SEO plugin to get some basic SEO work started on my website. I uploaded Yoast, activated it, went through the steps as I was prompted to activate it and get the site set up. It shows none of the pages having been analyzed and prompts me to open each of the 245 pages to edit them and set up Yoast. However, every page has this same error:

“Something went wrong. An unexpected error occurred.

We’re very sorry, but it seems like the following error has interrupted our application:

“/” cannot be parsed as a URL.

Unfortunately, this means that any unsaved changes in this section will be lost. You can try and refresh this page to resolve the problem. If this error still occurs, please get in touch with our support team, and we’ll get you all the help you need!”

Any idea what to do with this? I emptied site cache, browser cache and then downloaded the Yoast Test helper plugin and reset all the data parameters. Still seeing the same parsing error on each page.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @gmnjoy21 ,
It’s seems your site URL settings have a misconfiguration. Check Settings → General first.
The problem is likely Yoast is failing to parse your site’s URL structure, permalink or site URL configuration issue.

here is the some fix you may try:

    Check your WordPress URL settings:
    Go to Settings → General
Verify both fields have full URLs with https://:
    WordPress Address (URL): https://limblengthening.com
    Site Address (URL): https://limblengthening.com
NO trailing slash, NO relative paths like /
    Save changes

    Reset permalinks:
    Settings → Permalinks
Click Save Changes (don’t change anything)
    This refreshes URL structure

Try and let me know if it’s fixed.

    Hi, Sajal:

Thanks for the information and for getting back to me.

My settings look correct to me:

    WordPress Address (URL)

    https://limblengthening.com

    Site Address (URL)

    https://limblengthening.com

I deleted Yoast. I then updated the version of PHP the site is running on to 8.4.

I have now uploaded the latest version of YOAST and went through the “first time configuration.”

I “saved” the permalinks in settings (not having actually made any changes).

Unfortunately, I am getting the same error.

Is there somewhere else that YOAST is finding this url parsing error?

    Thanks again for your help,

Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty-Two.

Please test this on your development or staging site if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

If you feel uncomfortable doing this yourself or if this does not solve your issue, our Yoast SEO Premium plugin comes with one year of (technical) support.
