Is there a way to add a password for a member to access/edit his/her profile? For example – the special link would take the member to that page and further ask for a password before presenting the edit page. There is not any private information, but it would be nice to stop any malicious intent.

There’s no simple way to do this because a Participants Database record does not have a password, so you either have to link the record to a WP user so you can require a password, or devise your own password mechanism.
