Hello, today I received multiple emails of someone to request a password change.

I ignored them and marked them as spam as Gmail identified them as suspicious, which they were.

Later, I logged into my WordPress admin account and when I was trying to install a hide my wp ghost plugin, I received two emails (perhaps from the same suspicious account) saying my password has been reset.

I tried then to login again and I couldn’t.

The sender of the suspicious emails is my same Gmail address.

Now I can’t log in at all. What do I do in this case? Who do I contact even if it’s not Wordfence. I am in distress.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hey @gracekahinga,

Are you able to reset your password using the “Lost Password?” link on the login page? If so, I’d suggest resetting it and all other passwords including WordPress, sFTP, database, hosting panel, and Gmail.

You might also consult with your host for their thoughts as this is very worrisome. Wordfence will help harden your WordPress application, but if your email has been compromised it can’t help with this.

Please let us know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

    Hi,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’ve gone ahead and marked this thread as resolved.

Please feel free to open another thread if you’re still having issues with Wordfence.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
