It seems the maximum password length is 20 characters.
Is it possible to change this to be 24 characters?

I hope I’m too late to be of use to you, but in case others are looking, this suggests passwords may go as high as 64, or higher: https://core.trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/browser/tags/4.2.1/src/wp-includes/pluggable.php#L1890

On further hunting I found that the maximum password length is 4096 characters.

In the code, lines 217 and 256:
