When you request a password reset link, you cannot reset the password – you always get a password reset link is invalid message.

I have tried an incognito window. I do not having a caching plugin. I deactivated my security plugin (Defender) and it made no difference. I click the link within 60 seconds of receiving it. My server is within 2 time zones of my location.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello alifreeman93,
Greetings. Hope you are doing well.

Thanks for reaching out to us. I have checked this on my end and found that the reset link is showing the message properly including the reset link and it is resetting the password properly. Please check this screencast from my end: https://d.pr/v/yot5ki

Will you please tell me if you have created a custom password reset page and set the link for that page in the message? Please let me know the details so that I can check and assist you.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you.

I do not have a custom password reset page. The password reset email is requested on this page: https://nyxendurance.com/my-account/login/?action=forgot_password&eael-lostpassword=1. The password reset email links to this page: https://nyxendurance.com/my-account/login/?eael-lostpassword=1&error=expiredkey.

I do mask the wp-admin login page using the Defender plugin, but disabling Defender didn’t fix the issue. This login form and password reset link is for the front-end user login on an Elementor page.

@amitbarai013 While I know you have the best of intentions, forum policy is that you not ask users for admin or server access. Users on the forums are not your customers, they’re your open source collaborators, and requesting that kind of access can put you and them at high risk.

If they are paying customers (such as people who bought a premium service/product from you) then by all means, direct them to your official customer support system. But in all other cases, you need to help them here on the forums.

Thankfully are other ways to get information you need:

*Ask the user to install the Health Check plugin and get the data that way.

*Ask for a link to the http://pastebin.com/ or https://gist.github.com log of the user’s web server error log.
*Ask the user to create and post a link to their phpinfo(); output.
*Walk the user through enabling WP_DEBUG and how to log that output to a file and how to share that file.
*Walk the user through basic troubleshooting steps such and disabling all other plugins, clear their cache and cookies and try again (the Health Check plugin can do this without impacting any site visitors).
*Ask the user for the step-by-step directions on how they can reproduce the problem.

    You get the idea.

We know volunteer support is not easy, and this guideline can feel needlessly restrictive. It’s actually there to protect you as much as end users. Should their site be hacked or have any issues after you accessed it, you could be held legally liable for damages. In addition, it’s difficult for end users to know the difference between helpful developers and people with malicious intentions. Because of that, we rely on plugin developers and long-standing volunteers (like you) to help us and uphold this particular guideline.

When you help users here and in public, you also help the next person with the same problem.

@moderator & @amitbarai013 – I was not going to share admin login information through the forum. But the email @amitbarai013 shared to use for the admin login and for sharing login info is the support email for the plugin developer. Seems like having the developer help debug would be both productive and safe?

Regardless, asking for or offering logins in the forums is a violation of forum rules. It is not negotiable. https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/guidelines/#we-reserve-the-right-to-manage-the-forums-to-the-best-of-our-ability

    We ask for your cooperation.
