Hi there, I am facing a serious issue regarding Google Pay and Apple Pay on my website. When my customer tries to use it, it comes up with this error.
To quote their complaint: “It shows up when I filled out google pay and click purchase button. It tells me I can’t complete the purchase and shows this when I return to the product page”
The second error text is “The payment request button is not supported in Australia because some required fields couldn’t be verified. Please proceed to the checkout page and try again. Billing Street address is a required field. Billing Suburb is a required field. Billing State is a required field.”
I understand that your customers are unable to pay using either Google Pay or Apple Pay on your site and receives the error message above.
It seems that the fields stated in the error message: Street address, Suburb, State were not filled up, hence, resulting in this error.
Checking your site’s checkout page and paying via Google Pay, I can see that the State field is not included in the options as you can see below:
Hence, your customers were asked to fill it up on the checkout page first prior to paying via Google Pay since it is a required field as seen here:
It looks like a third-party plugin or your theme might be causing the conflict here.
For us to investigate this further, can you please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce and WooCommerce Payments plugin are enabled, create a test order using Test mode via Google Pay or Apple Pay and see if this works?
If so, then this kind of problem is usually caused by your theme or a third-party plugin present on your site. We can run a conflict test to verify this. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.
If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.
If this did not resolve the issue, please share your System Status Report, that will help us further troubleshoot.
You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.
If you could also provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.
You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.
Let us know how it goes!
