Hello! We are having an issue with our website, and the exact error is shown below. I reached out to PayPal support, and they confirmed everything is working on their end.

    PayPal Response:

I am sorry to hear that even after entering the correct REST App credentials (Client ID and Secret key), you are still receiving the error on the GiveWP platform. I checked your account configuration and can confirm your account is a verified business account and can be used to connect with GiveWP and other partners. I couldn't find any issue with your account.

The mentioned error seems to be on the GiveWP platform page. Unfortunately, we at PayPal MTS have limited knowledge of the GiveWP integration process or their Admin settings, as their integration process is developed and handled by their own developers. So, I request you please directly contact the GiveWP support to assist you with connecting your account with their platform. You can contact the GiveWP support through the link "https://givewp.com/support/". However, if you find any PayPal issue during the connection, please let us know to investigate further.

    Error on GiveWP:

Warning, your account is not ready to accept donations.

There is an issue with your PayPal account that is preventing you from being able to accept donations. Please call a PayPal support representative at 1-888-350-2387 and relay the following message:

    Greetings!

I am trying to connect my PayPal account to the GiveWP plugin for WordPress. I have gone through the onboarding process to connect my account, but when I finish I'm given the following message from GiveWP:

PayPal client access token API request response is:
    null
PayPal client rest api credentials API request response is:
    []
There was a problem with PayPal client rest API request and we could not find valid client id and secret.

Please help me resolve these account errors so I can begin accepting payments via PayPal on GiveWP.

    Hi @josephfromupfront ,

Glad you reached out! Happy to help.

Thanks for sending along the message! PayPal can sometimes be a bit finicky – I’ll share what has worked for me in the past, and then some standard recommendations.

    What has worked for me:

    1. Refresh the PayPal connection page – the one where you saw that message.
    2. In the past, after refreshing that page, I’ve seen that error disappear and the connection is still not there
    3. Try to connect again
    4. It shows as PayPal connected, but the error is still there.
    5. Refresh the page again. It still shows as connected, but the error is no longer there.
    6. If it’s still not connected, try the above in an Incognito tab.

    Standard recommendations:
There’s a wide variety of reasons why you might struggle to get PayPal Donations connected correctly. Some of those reasons we can solve and some are things that PayPal needs to solve, but I’m here to help you as completely as I possibly can.

The first thing you should do is confirm that you do not have GiveWP in “Test Mode.” If GiveWP is in test mode, it will attempt to connect PayPal Donations to the PayPal sandbox instead of your live PayPal account. In live mode, GiveWP connects to your live PayPal account. You can disable test mode by going to GiveWP → Settings → Payment Gateways.

If you still have trouble connecting to PayPal, it’s possible something is cached in your browser. Some GiveWP users have had success by logging into their WordPress site in an incognito window and then connecting to PayPal there. After you make the connection incognito, you should be fine moving forward.

If neither of those two things gets you connected, then most likely there’s an issue with your PayPal account, and we want to get you connected with PayPal directly to resolve it. We created this page to give you more details about this problem and for you to get in touch with PayPal directly. https://givewp.com/paypal-onboarding-reports/

The form on that page sends an email directly to PayPal, to a team that we have been told is aware of any issues, and can walk you through connecting. We’re here to help as much as we can, but ultimately they’ll have to help if none of the steps above resolve things.

Let me know once you’ve implemented and tested the above. I’m here for any further questions or additional assistance. Have a good day!

    Hi @josephfromupfront ,

It’s been a while since we’ve heard back, and I know troubleshooting needs a little extra time. I’m marking this as resolved for now, but if you still have questions, you can send them along right here, and I’ll be happy to hop back in.

    Have a great day!
