Hello, I’m using Givewp and PayPal Donation new API to collect donation for a website I’m maintaining. It is set as standard transaction as I’m NOT no-profit.
All working good except that the payment transaction on PayPal side doesn’t contain a description. After a donation I can see in the email that the donation description is taken from the Donation Form Name. It would be perfect if sent also on the PayPal side.
But it seems not sent to PayPal as there is not a description in the payment transaction details on PayPal. not for me, not for the donor.
Is that a normal behavior or can I set a description for PayPal somewhere?
Thank you, hope you can help me

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]
I’m glad you reached out because I know exactly how to help you with that situation.
On the PayPal side of things, this would show up in the Order Details section, under Item Name, as you can see in here — https://share.zight.com/WnuWyyqN.
You can always correct me if I misunderstood anything.
I would like exactly that. My item name is empty… As said i’m using the new paypal donation api in standard transaction mode as i’m not non-profit.
That could be the cause? I really would like to show the form name in the item name like you showed me. But it’s not working 🙁 at now my website is live and people donating will get an empty item description. there’s no way for them to understand why they gave me money….

here’s a screenshot from a transaction made in sandbox mode, same issue This is the store paypal side and I would like to see the item name if you can help me.
On the user side there is no article name field on paypal receipt so it’s never showed. dunno if this one can be solved.

What kind of form are you using? Is it an option-based form OR a form created using the visual donation form builder? Can you send us a link where we can see the form?
I do apologize for our slow turnaround on this one. Looking forward to helping you get to the bottom of this!
To see the form you have to register an account (or login with google) on http://www.showcontrollerinputs.com and then you can see the form to donate from the top menu.
Or I can create an account if you want, just I don’t know how to give you the access credentials without givin them to the people reading this post.
I’m marking this one as resolved (as we’ve located the issue).
If you have any more questions regarding this or if you need further information, send them along in here, and I’ll hop back in to answer them.

I can’t use stripe. Nice to know you tracked that bug. I hope a fix will come soon. I’ll continue using paypal. I’m not getting a lot of donations so for now I think it’s ok if the description is not sent by givewp and is missing. I’ve put the website contact email on my paypal account, so people can recognize the donation is related to my website (showcontrollerinputs.com). I hope for it to get fixed soon.
