    I’ve used this plugin successfully in the past, but in attempting to set it up for a client, after doing the basic config, and inserting a shortcode, I am getting the following error message on Paypal:

    Things don’t appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later.

    This article listed some possible causes, but I can’t see anything wrong with the form data:
    https://www.paypal-knowledge.com/infocenter/index?page=content&id=FAQ2067

    Is anyone else getting this issue? In the above article Paypal say they made changes to the checkout process in March 2017. Are there any additional settings needed to make it work now, or known issues with the plugin as a result?

    My request in its most basic form looks like this (email address deliberately obscured):
    cmd=_xclick&business=name%40domain.net&item_name=Ecolibrium+Now&currency_code=GBP&amount=20.00&lc=EN_US&no_note=&paymentaction=sale&return=&bn=WPPlugin_SP&cancel_return=&submit.x=89&submit.y=17

    I’m also getting the same message with another WP plugin – WP Simple Paypal Shopping cart.

    Perplexed why it is not working, so thanks for any help!

    Hi @spiraledgeuk and @maureenmoss,

    Sorry for the delayed reply. For some reason ww.wp.xz.cn didn’t notify me about this ticket.

    The most likely causes for this error are:

    1. You have a currency sign in front of your amount. Example: $50.00

    2. You have entered an incorrect Merchant ID or PayPal Email address.

    3. Make sure the “Block Non-encrypted Website Payment” PayPal feature is turned off. You can do this by going to PayPal.com and selecting Profile & Settings –> My Selling Tools –> Website Preferences. Go down to the section “Encrypted Website Payments” and select “off” to the “Block Non-encrypted Website Payment:”

    If that doesn’t help, then if you can please link to the page on your site that has this problem, I can take a look.

    Thanks,
    Scott
