I’ve got a problem with Paypal orders, using the standard WC Paypal gateway. If a user chooses Paypal, an order number is created in Woocommerce and the user is taken to the Paypal website. If they don’t check out and pay for the order in Paypal, the order is still left in WC. Is there any way of the order number in WC to only be created when the user has successfully checked out in Paypal?

  • Hi @pixelshrink,

This type of behavior is expected with payment gateways that require navigation to an outside page. PayPal is one of the payment providers that requires this redirect.

One option would be to update the Hold Stock setting in your WooCommerce Inventory settings: WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Inventory > ‘Hold stock (minutes)’
The higher that number is, the longer the unpaid orders can sit in your orders section.

Once the hold stock time limit is reached, the order will subsequently be cancelled.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

    Thank you,
    Joey
