I am trying to set up the Ticketing plugin for The Events Calendar. I went though the process to add Paypal and I am getting the following screen of error messages:

Error – Something went wrong! : Unexpected response received. – Failed to refresh PayPal access token.

Error – Something went wrong! : Unexpected response received. – Failed to refresh PayPal user info.

Unexpected PayPal response when creating webhook

    Failed to refresh PayPal webhooks.

I am using Bluehost. I can’t even figure out how to put an image into this text box. There’s no option to upload an image.

This is the error I am getting:

[19-Apr-2024 19:00:02 UTC] PHP Warning: Attempt to read property “ID” on null in /home3/downbyri/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-tickets/src/Tickets/Commerce/Shortcodes/Success_Shortcode.php on line 43

    Hi @hendrikdbr,

First, please check if deactivating and reactivating Event Tickets plugin, and then trying to reconnect to PayPal, resolves the issue.

I also recommend checking to be sure nothing is blocking the REST API on your site, and testing for conflicts by following our guide, Testing Conflicts With Themes and Other Plugins, to see if a conflict is the cause of the behavior.

If you need further assistance, could you provide the following version of the following?

    1. PHP
    2. WordPress
    3. The Events Calendar
    4. Event Tickets
    5. Theme and Version

Looking forward to helping you with this one.

The developer that I am working with did all of the suggestions. We weren’t able to get it up and running. I did get a Stripe account and that wasn’t hard to get running at all.

    Here’s his email.

I did everything in the link he sent to no avail.

I disabled all plugs except the events ones and the bluehost one (which I think is needed for staging)

I switched the theme two "twenty twenty"

I disabled and re-enabled both the events plugins and continue to get these errors.

Here are the answers to the questions he asked in the email

     - PHP - PHP 8.2

     - WordPress - WordPress Version: 6.5.2

     - The Events Calendar - Version 6.3.7

     - Event Tickets - Version 5.9.1

     - Theme and Version - Tested in both
    Divi Version: 4.25.0

    Twenty Twenty 2.6

    Hi @hendrikdbr,

Currently, we do not yet fully support PHP 8.2 and above, but rest assured that we are working towards it. We appreciate any error reports which can help us fix them. While we are working to make our products compatible, if you have the possibility, please downgrade the PHP version to the previous version and check if it resolves the issue.

See this article for more information: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/php-8-support-2/

Please let me know how it goes after downgrading the PHP.

I’m still running into this issue, even with PHP 8.1.

When test mode is activated, the PayPal connections works perfectly, even with PHP 8.2.

Is there anything I can try or logs to check?

    Thanks so much!

    Hi @noplanman

You can try to replicate the issue on a staging version of your live site and, from there, enable the debugging. Once the debugging is enabled, try reproducing the problem to check if any errors are being logged.

If it doesn’t help, please open a new thread and include all relevant details. This will allow us to thoroughly investigate the problem on our end.
