    Most helpful features are hidden behind a paywall. I really hate this misleading business model which seems to be a standard for WordPress plugins these days. Just tell me straight away I’m not going to get virtually any value out of the free version and save me installing it and immediately uninstalling and giving it a 1-star review here.

    I hope you are doing well today.

    When it comes to our Smush plugin, nothing has changed when it comes to free and Pro features. The free features stay are they are and are available to use. Some of the features mentioned in our description have an additional label “(Pro Only)” to inform users that such a feature is only available in the Pro version.

    When it comes to connecting the site to WPMU DEV, the reason behind this improvement is that we want to prevent any unauthorized access to the API, as it was open to all, and it was misused. From now on, we’ll require authentication, which will improve the API security and performance for all users, as it will stop abusing our API. Please note that you will still be able to use Smush for free.

    We hope you could still test the free version and enjoy it.
