Performance Difference Between A and CNAME Method?

    Hi,

    I’m wondering if there is a performance difference between using the A Record method and using the CNAME method. In some preliminary testing, we seem to be seeing significantly slower loads with the CNAME method (up to 3 seconds for a page that normally takes 1). I’d imagine that CNAME lookups should only take a few milliseconds, so I don’t think that would explain it. We’ll continue testing but I wanted to ask first if there is any known difference between the performance of the two methods.

    I don’t know if it’s a known issues, but using a CNAME is one more “hop” to get to the right spot.

    If it’s that much slower, I’d be checking my server over to make sure the cname address is pointing to the right spot the first chance it gets.
