I tried running some tests to assess slow performance on my website and, while a big chunk of it I would chalk up to the hosting provider, I tried running “P3 Plugin Profiler” plug-in at two different hosting providers and I found that my worst performing plugin by about 500% was “WP Security Audit Log”. It still came in at .1 to .2 of a second, but it accounted for 42% of total load time among 17 plugins I use. I really would like to keep using “WP Security Audit Log”, but want to minimize the performance impact. Is there anything that can be done to streamline it’s performance, particularly for Front end loads?

  • Hello bcharters,

Thank you for showing interest in our plugin.

To start off with, the plugin should not take .1 or .2 of a second to do a particular task. If it is doing so, then definitely there is something wrong, something else that might be contributing to the problem.

Though apart from that you said that you would like to improve the performance of the plugin, particularly for front end loads. The plugin only monitors (and uses hooks) activity in the WordPress dashboard, so it does not monitor anything related to the front end, i.e. when visitors are visiting your website.

So if you have a performance degradation on the front end I can confirm that this is not an issue related to our plugin. If you would like to discuss this subject further please drop us an email on [email protected] so we make sure we sort it out.

    Hello,

as explained via email the delay you were noticing on the front end is because you were logged in to WordPress while measuring the performance of the plugin.

Considering the plugin calls many WordPress dashboard hooks what you are seeing is normal once you are logged in. Though as also explained via email the plugin does not use any hooks related to the front end (as it only monitors the activity of logged in users) hence it does not affect the speed of WordPress.

Thank you very much for getting in touch via email and should you have any further queries do not hesitate to get in touch.
