    Jacob
First let me say that you are Iron Man! One of the most prolific developers in any platform and any circumstance. Your WP Photo Album Plus plugin is feature over-rich. It has taken much effort to get comfortable and I still have much to investigate. Congratulations on a great plugin.

Now my concern. Since April 2016 I noticed my site response time for page load slowed considerably. It coincided with the security plugin WordFence release with their firewall. I also was in an older php webhost. In December is Migrated to a new webserver with current php. Also, tuning, and WordFence maturity has occurred. Still, the page loads take very long, often more than six or seven seconds, or more. I am making allowance to server caching, and note that I do not use a caching plugin.

A few days ago I installed P3 performance plugin. In many pages the P3 analysis flagged WP Photo Album as 65-85% duration factor.

Root cause, in my Weaver Extreme Plus Theme’s primary sidebar, I had installed the widget that showed one picture that auto rotated like POTD on each page load. After removing the widget, page load dropped to less than half, under 4 seconds. This includes pages that had a WP Photo Album shortcode (there would be the shortcode and widget in some instances).

I checked your documentation and sorted through all the do’s and don’ts matching or determining the item wasn’t applicable.

Now my question is, do you have a white paper or other set of documentation on the topic of performance? Let’s call it a filtered search of anything you’ve written that has a tag in it for performance factor.

I would love to dig through it.

I can provide the P3 reports if you like.

I installed and tested p3 and it does not give me any usefull info on 2 test sites.
Try plugin Query Monitor it is up-to-date, maintained, and supplies MUCH more info than just query statistics.

Just a suggestion for slow potd widgets: Make sure the pool of photos (see the potd admin page) is limited to a reasonable nimber, say ~25

Jacob, thanks for the suggestions. I will check out the second performance monitor and send results. I keep Photo Album Plus up to date. I actually read all release notes for every plugin for each update! We are at API Version: 6-6-11-009.

    Output emails have been sent.

Thanx for the data. Can you supply me a link to a page that more or less represents the heaviest load from wppa? Also, please check the box in Table IX-A3: Allow WPPA+ Debugging on that site.

After all the adjustments, I don’t have a slow page now, but, I do have issues from Query Monitor.

Before I give a page address, I need to know what country to open up for you to visit. I am blocking all countries except USA with Wordfence.

    Opa,
Your suggestion to try Query Monitor Plug-in was just what I was looking for to clear server side errors across a wide range. Way more than simply SQL Queries! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Yes, thanks to the QM plugin, I’ve been able to pursue other faults and clear them.
This included changing the permission mask in the various WPPA directory trees.

My site load time as improved from 8+ seconds, some pages 15-30 seconds, to less than 3 seconds, some are less than one second.

    Thank you sir.
