Permalink Mod for Newly Installed wp

    I have a newly created wp blog, no postings yet, some plugins installed, not online yet. I do have some tech skills but I’m frankly adrift, or so it seams, on wp. My issue is that I would like to delete lines 2 (Day and name) and 3 (Month and name) under SETTINGS>PERMALINKS>COMMON SETTINGS…

    Simple deletion does not seem to be an option. I suspect the answer may have something to do with using the CUSTOM STRUCTURE and the /%…%/ but really have no true idea if that is correct or of how to do this.

    Can anyone help a not-so-smart techie with this?
