Permalink question

I have a question about how the permalinks work for linked child posts. I’ve linked a child post to a parent. When I click on the post link on the child blog site it redirects the post back to the parent version of the post. I’ve tried setting the permalink setting for the child to “Always use own permalink”. I thought this would make the child post display (not redirecting to the parent) but it still redirects.

If I create the child without linking to the parent so it’s just a copy then it works fine.

FYI, I do have the premium package.

Am I doing something wrong or does the child post alway redirect back to the parent if it’s linked.
