• Hi

I have had my site up and running for a while but would like to change the Permalinks from the default to a custom /%pagetitle%/

Because of the amount of pages/posts is it late to do this? davro-digital.com

Would appreciate you advice, still new to all of this:)

    Thanks in advance

    David

  • Is /%pagetitle%/ a usable permalink structure?

This would affect how your site is indexed and the URI’s are displayed but should not affect functionality of your site (as long as a custom theme or plugin does not interfere with permalinks).

Thanks Swanson, my mistake the structure would be /%postname/

I wondered if anyone else had changed to custom permalinks and if affect the pages/posts/links in anyway, is it just as simple as adding /%postname/ to the custom permalinks?

    Cheers

Did you mean /%postname%/ ?? And yes, when added correctly.

You can change it for testing, then change it back if it was not what you desired. You will have to ensure that WordPress can write to your .htaccess file (or web.config if running in windows environment), or manually update it per the instructions in my link above.
